A small ball game derived from tennis. Its rules and playing methods are basically the same as tennis, except that the court is smaller and the ball is hit with a wooden board. Padel tennis was first introduced by F.P. Beale of the United States in 1921. The first national padel tennis competition was held in the United States in 1940. In the 1930s, padel tennis was also introduced to China. At that time, Yenching University listed padel tennis as one of the physical education courses.

Venue and equipment

Padel Court tennis courts are composed of galvanized steel structure frames, galvanized metal mesh, tempered glass, artificial turf and lighting fixtures. The specifications of a standard padel court are composed of the following data: the court foundation specifications are reinforced concrete ground length 20.8 meters, width 10.8 meters, thickness 0.15 meters, and the foundation is equipped with 12mm diameter and 200mm spacing steel bars; the court interior specifications are 20 meters long and 10 meters wide. The long side heights are 3 meters and 4 meters respectively, and the short side height is 4 meters. The lamp post height is 6 meters. The court is equipped with four removable goals to facilitate the entry and exit of athletes. A nylon net is set in the middle of the court to divide the left and right halves.

Competition specifications and details

Patley tennis matches are divided into singles and doubles, and the scoring method is the same as tennis. 4 points are scored in a game. In a game, 3 points each is a "tie". In the case of a "tie", one side must surpass the other by 2 points to win the game. 6 games are a set. In general matches, the 3-set 2-win system is adopted. In a set, if the number of games between the two sides is "5-tie", one side must surpass the other by 2 games to determine the winner (that is, the number of games is 7 to 5, or 8 to 6, etc.). In order to avoid the game time being dragged too long, when the number of games between the two sides is "6-tie", it can also be changed to "rematch 9 points" method, that is, any side wins 5 more points (more than half) to win. Serving is rotated according to the game, and each person serves 1 game in each round. In each round, the first serving player should stand outside the right half of the end line and serve the ball to the opponent's right serving area at an oblique angle. The second serving player should serve from the left half, and so on. In the youth group, each player can serve two balls at a time. If the first ball is served wrong, the second ball can be served. When serving, the player can also use the overhand high-altitude serve method. Players in the adult group are only allowed to serve once. If a ball is served wrong, it is considered a mistake and the opponent gets 1 point. When serving, adult players are only allowed to use the underhand serve method. During the game, players can intercept and hit the ball in the air or return the ball after it lands once, which are legal shots. If the ball is returned after landing twice, it is considered a hitting mistake. For each mistake, the opponent gets 1 point. Regardless of whether the serving or receiving side wins a ball, 1 point is scored. After the first game of each set, the two sides should exchange courts, and then exchange courts once every two games, that is, exchange courts after the odd-numbered games (1, 3, 5, 7, etc.) of each set.
